Poggio Antico Madre Toscana - 94 Points Wine Spectator

2010 Poggio Antico Madre Toscana....$68.99
Dark and brooding, offering black cherry, plum, licorice and leather flavors allied to a dense texture. Solid, yet fluid enough to allow the tobacco and spice flavors to linger in the aftertaste. Sangiovese and Cabernet Sauvignon. Best from 2016 through 2024. 220 cases imported. –BS
Rated 94/100 The Wine Spectator
The estate’s 2010 Madre, equal parts Sangiovese and Cabernet Sauvignon, emerges from the glass with scents of pipe tobacco, cedar, grilled herbs and black cherries. The Sangiovese comes through most in the aromas and flavors, while the Cabernet seems to add body and structure. Cabernet notes of cassis and bell pepper linger on the finish. Overall, this is a very pretty wine from Poggio Antico, a venerable estate that seems to be on a roll these days. Anticipated maturity: 2014-2030.
Rated 93/100 The Wine Advocate
