2009 Fontenil Fronsac
Rated 92/100 The Wine Advocate
Rated 91/100 The Wine Spectator
" The basic Fontenil (95% Merlot and 5% Cabernet Sauvignon) has a deep bluish purple color and relatively hefty alcohol at 14.5%, but it is not noticeable in this full-bodied, layered, opulent wine, with lots of black raspberry fruit intermixed with some blueberries and crushed rock. Both of these wines have a good 10-15 years of potential in a fine cellar. Two of the best wines from Dany and Michel Rolland are these vintages of Fontenil in Fronsac. " -- The Wine Advocate
2009 Grand Corbin Despagne St. Emilion
Rated 90/100 The Wine Spectator
"This is rock-solid, with cocoa, fig and blackberry notes rolled together, framed by dense but polished structure and all weaving nicely through the lightly grippy finish. Best from 2013 through 2022. –JM" - The Wine Spectator

2009 La Croix Ducasse Pomerol
Rated 92/100 The Wine Spectator
"This broad-shouldered red is thick and dense, with mouthfilling tannins supporting rich flavors of chocolate, coffee, plum, raisin and earth. Shows impressive girth. Best from 2014 through 2022. 4,000 cases made. –TM" - The Wine Spectator

2009 Lyonnat "Emotion" Lussac St. Emilion
Rated 91/100 The Wine Spectator
"Still quite youthfully toasty, with cocoa powder and espresso holding sway over dark plum and macerated currant fruit. The rich finish has the cocoa edge still in control, but the depth is there for this to come together. Drink now through 2017. 2,500 cases made. –JM" - The Wine Spectator

2009 Terte Daugay St. Emilion
Rated 92-95/100 The Wine Spectator
Blackberry, black licorice and spices. What a nose. Full-bodied, with supervelvety tannins and a long, long finish. Wonderful texture. Score range: 92-95 –JS" -- The Wine Spectator

2009 Ch Lunelles (formerly Clos Les Lunelles)
Rated 93/100 The Wine Advocate
Rated 90/100 The Wine Spectator
"This is a gorgeous effort, made from a blend of 80% Merlot and the rest Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc. Cropped at 22 hectoliters per hectare from their clay over limestone soils, the wine displays oodles of new oak, crushed chalk, and blueberry and blackberry fruit with hints of raspberries and pen ink. It is full-bodied and layered, with a fleshy, even succulent mid-palate and a long, long finish. This is terrific Castillon to drink over the next 10-15+ years." -- The Wine Advocate

2009 Chateau Connetable Talbot
Rated 88/100 The Wine Spectator
" Solid, with briar, blackberry and cassis fruit framed by modest, supple toast. Ends with a sleek, open-knit finish. Drink now through 2015. –JM " - The Wine Spectator

2009 Chateau Cote Montpezat
Rated 89/100 The Wine Spectator

"This sports a ripe, direct beam of plum cake and fig sauce backed by lively tobacco and toasty spice notes that linger easily through the finish. Drink now through 2013. 3,750 cases made. –JM" - The Wine Spectator

2009 Chateau Lanessan
Rated 92/100 The Wine Advocate

"Ripe black currant fruit with some cedar wood, licorice and wood spice are all present in this generously endowed, concentrated, low-acid Lanessan. The tannins are silky, and the overall impression is one of elegance, plumpness and beautiful intensity. This is a sleeper of the vintage and one that should only improve over the next several years and merit an outstanding rating. It should keep for up to two decades." - The Wine Advocate

2009 Chateau La Rousselle
Rated 89+/100 The Wine Advocate

Ripe black currant fruit with some cedar wood, licorice and wood spice are all present in this generously endowed, concentrated, low-acid Lanessan. The tannins are silky, and the overall impression is one of elegance, plumpness and beautiful intensity. Chateau La Croix Figeac St. Emilion
Rated 92-95/100 The Wine Spectator

" Blackberry with licorice and black olive on the nose. Full-bodied, with lots of richness. Very concentrated, but I think it will come around just right. 80 percent Merlot, 20 percent Cabernet. This is really full throttle. Rock and roll. Score range: 92-95 –JS " The Wine Spectator
Chateau Poujeaux
Rated 92/100 The Wine Advocate

The final blend of 50% Cabernet Sauvignon, 40% Merlot and the rest Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot was cropped very low at 35 hectoliters per hectare. Deep purple, with a nose of subtle smoke, graphite, blueberry and black raspberry fruit as well as some spring flowers, in the mouth a touch of oak makes an appearance, but the wine is full-bodied, rich, inky and unctuously textured due to the high glycerin and alcohol that hits 14% plus. This beauty should drink well for up to two decades. The finest wine I have tasted from Poujeaux over the last 33 years...." -- The Wine Advocate

Chateau Vieux Maillet Pomerol
Rated 90/100 The Wine Spectator

This has suave toast, mulled spice, roasted fig and crushed plum and blackberry flavors, all gliding along with silky structure through the finish. Drink now through 2018. 2,000 cases made. –JM" - The Wine Spectator

Chateau Lilian Ladouys St. Estephe
Rated 92/100 The Wine Spectator

"On the toasty, more modern side of the spectrum, with ambitious roasted fig, apple wood and blueberry confiture notes followed by racy graphite, espresso and blackberry pâte de fruit. Not shy, but has the density for balance. Best from 2013 through 2024. 18,080 cases made. –JM " - The Wine Spectator
