Dunn Howell Mountian 2002 !!!

We just received some 2002 and 2006
Howell Mountain from the Cellars of Dunn!

Very Limited - In stock at Rock Hill and Forsyth

"2002 was one of my favorite vintages of that decade...classic, quintessential California wines" -- Robert Parker, The Wine Advocate May 14, 2012

2002 Dunn Cabernet Sauvignon Howell Mountain...$112.99
Bright, saturated ruby-red. Vibrant nose offers cassis, minerals, gunpowder and spices. Densely packed but nicely delineated, with primary, fruit-driven flavors of blackcurrant and spices. Very juicy and suave but still quite youthfully unevolved. Finishes with firm but smooth tannins. This calls for considerably more patience than the Napa Valley bottling, but even today there's a pleasing pliancy of texture. This held up extremely well in the recorked bottle."
93/100 Stephen Tanzer, International Wine Cellar
The 2002 Cabernet Sauvignon Howell Mountain exhibits an inky/blue/purple color along with a sweet perfume of pure blackberries, meat, new saddle leather, and flowers. From an unusually ripe harvest, this sweet, rich, fleshy offering displays more accessibility than many Howell Mountain vintages. Randy Dunn said it was important to drop crop, and he eliminated 40% of the fruit from the vines in both 2002 and 2001. The long, concentrated 2002 may not be the biggest Howell Mountain cuvee, but it will provide lovely drinking between 2009-2024.
91-93/100 Robert Parker, The Wine Advocate

2006 Dunn Cabernet Sauvignon Howell Mountain...$75.99 / 750ml
2006 Dunn Cabernet Sauvignon Howell Mountain...$151.99 / 1.5ltr
"The 2006 Cabernet Sauvignon Howell Mountain is big, dark and juicy. There is an element of wildness that runs through the wine. Graphite, licorice, tar and smoke are just some of the nuances that add complexity. The 2006 boasts superb purity from start to finish. Elements of fleshiness give the impression the 2006 might drink well relatively early, until the massive tannins set in. Floral notes add freshness on the finish. This is another fabulous wine from Randy Dunn. Anticipated maturity: 2016-2036."
Rated 95/100 The Wine Advocate
