Compare to $40 at Snowden.com
The 2009 Cabernet Sauvignon The Ranch bursts from the glass with masses of dark red fruit, tobacco, licorice and cassis. The wine shows marvelous depth and texture as the aromas and flavors build effortlessly to the dramatic, sweeping finish. This is a superb effort, and certainly one of the very finest Napa Valley wines available for the money. This is a big and hugely delicious wine. In 2009 the blend is 75% Cabernet Sauvignon, 18.2% Cabernet Franc and 6.8% Petit Verdot. Anticipated maturity: 2012-2019.

Snowden Vineyards lies in one of the more remote corners of Napa Valley, next to Sloan and Hall on one of its borders. Rated 93/100 The Wine Advocate
2008 Pahlmeyer Proprietary Red....$93.99 net / 750ml
"The 2008 Proprietary Red Wine blend (essentially a Cabernet Sauvignon-dominated wine with Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot, and Malbec blended in) has a more opaque/purple color. With more graphite, blueberry and lilac notes, sweet tannin, medium to full body, and an elegant, gracious feel, it is more restrained than previous examples but has no shortage of richness and concentration. It looks to be a beauty in a Bordeaux style, with sweet tannins but loads of fruit – unmistakably California but French in structure. Drink it over the next 15+ years."
