O'Fallon B.D.S.

In stock at Forsyth now

O'Fallon B.D.S. Belgian Dark Ale....$11.99 / 22oz
We brewed this Belgian-style dark ale (ALC: 10% by Vol) in July 2010 and transferred it several weeks later into freshly drained Port Barrels.  For the next 11 months the beer worked in and out of the French oak barrels as the temperature in the brewery flucturated with the seasons.  In June 2011, we bottled the beer and put it aside to allow the flavors of the wood and teh beer to marry and mellow.  The result is a spicy-sweet with hints of raisins and caramel that mingle with the dark fruit notes and oak from the barrels.  We love this unique brew and hope you will too!

More info posted by Evan Benn on Hip Hops about the beer...
B.D.S. Belgian-Style Dark Ale • O'Fallon will release this limited-edition beer early next month in 22-ounce bottles. About 3,600 bottles were produced. Owens brewed a Belgian-style dark ale and let it age for almost a year in empty port barrels from Mount Pleasant Winery in Augusta. A sample tasted this month revealed flavors of dark fruit and tart cherries that mellowed any heat from the 10 percent alcohol content. A note on the name: B.D.S. stands for Belgian Dark Strong, which is the beer's base style. "Strong" is one of several words that the government does not allow to appear on beer labels, so O'Fallon uses the initials instead." -- Evan Benn
