2010 Cameron Hughes Lot 313 Field Blend....$10.99
Grape: 71% Zinfandel, 10% Petite Sirah, 10% Syrah, 9% Carignane
Taste: Lot 313 has a wonderfully smoky nose interwoven with blueberry, raspberry, and kirsch. The palate is deeply concentrated with silky tannins and a rich, multi-faceted juicy finish. With framing acidity and a bold backbone playing off of the lively fruit, this wine is affable while showing great sophistication.
Cameron Confidential: After the enormous success of Lot 244 California Field Blend due to its style of soft elegance and incredible approachability, we partnered with a great grower in Lodi to produce a top notch Field Blend for the growing demand. This wine is predominantly Zinfandel with some Petite Sirah blended in, giving it a gorgeous color and wonderful tannic backbone. We also added some Syrah and Carignane for complexity and depth, while maintaing that classic 'Field Blend' style. If you're into a playful, full-bodied red with lush fruit, this wine will knock your socks off.
If you like Rombauer....give this one a try....
2009 Cameron Hughes Chardonnay Carneros....$13.99
Taste: Rich golden center with Pears, apple and fresh banana on the nose. This wine shows classic buttery qualities with subtle sorbet notes on the finish. On the palate, this wine is rich and full with a bold mid-palate of meyer lemon and nuances of baking spice.
Cameron Confidential: This is another beautiful Chard hailing from one of the most prestigious producers from Carneros. This producer has incredible vineyard management and a top of the line crush facility. They focus on more Burgundian varietals, really utilizing the cooler climate of Carneros. Their overall knowledge of the cool-climate varietals gives these guys the ability to put out top-notch Chardonnay with just enough excess to give us a lot or two! This wine easily compares to Chards in the $20 plus range.
