Wines to be tasted....quite amazing wines...
2009 Chateau Montelena Chardonnay Napa Valley
$50 suggested retail at Chateau Montelena

"Speaking of non-malolactic, the reserved 2009 Chardonnay exhibits delicate pear and honeysuckle notes as well as crisp, fresh acidity, medium body and a steely purity. This is often referred to as the Ric Forman style, but Montelena has been doing it as long as Ric has (as have such legendary wineries as Stony Hill)." - The Wine Advocate

2008 Chateau Montelena Cabernet, Napa Valley
$50 Suggested retail on The Wine Advocate

The 2008 Cabernet Sauvignon offers sweet black currant fruit, roasted herbs, earth and spice characteristics presented in an attractive, medium-bodied style. Some time ago Bo Barrett and his dad, Jim, decided that they needed to produce a less expensive, more supple textured Cabernet Sauvignon for consumers and restaurants looking for immediate gratification. That goal has been met very nicely by their Napa Cabernet Sauvignon, which is blended with some Merlot. All the fruit comes from the Calistoga appellation." - The Wine Advocate

2009 Chateau Montelena Cabernet, Napa Valley
$60 suggested retail on The Wine Advocate

"The 2009 Cabernet Sauvignon is wonderfully supple and fragrant. Silky tannins frame a core of expressive dark red fruit. Floral and spice notes are nicely woven throughout. This textured, gracious Cabernet Sauvignon should continue to age gracefully for another 7-10 years, but it is awfully good right now. The blend includes 7% Merlot and 1.5% Cabernet Franc in 2009. Anticipated maturity: 2012-2019."
Rated 91/100 The Wine Advocate

2008 Chateau Montelena ESTATE Cabernet Napa Vallley
$135 suggested retail on The Wine Advocate

"The 2008 Cabernet Sauvignon Estate is a gorgeous, mid-weight wine laced with mint, cassis, sweet herbs and tobacco. It is an understated, gracious wine from start to finish. This is a relatively approachable vintage for the Estate. It shows tons of finesse and mid-palate generosity while maintaining a medium-bodied personality. Today it is quite young, although it is drinking well. Readers who prefer more tertiary notes will want to cellar the wine for at least a few years. Anticipated maturity: 2014-2028."
Rated 92/100 The Wine Advocate

2009 Chateau Montelena Zinfandel, Napa Valley (special pre-release tasting)
$30 Suggested retail on The Wine Advocate

The 2009 Zinfandel is a pretty, fleshy wine laced with dried cherries, crushed flowers, plums, worn-in leather and spices. Layers of fruit build gracefully to the round, caressing finish. This is an attractive wine, even if it isn’t totally varietally expressive. Anticipated maturity: 2012-2019. -- The Wine Advocate

Great Post!!! Tonight I was drinking wine and had a hunkering for a frozen chocolate treat. Right away, you know this is going somewhere good.
