A wheat whiskey is a type of straight whiskey that must contain 51% of a single type of grain, in this case soft winter wheat, plus a combination of other grains.
What makes Berhnehim different from Bourbon?
To be called Bourbon; at least 51% of the grain used in making the whiskey must be corn.
What makes Bernheim different from Wheated Bourbon?
Wheated Bourbons, such as Makers Mark and Old Fitzgerald, adhere to all of the laws governing Bourbon, but use a small amount of wheat in place of rye in their mashbill.
What makes Bernheim "America's only wheat whiskey?"
It is the first and only wheat whiskey available in the U.S. since prohibition.
