What is Bedrock Wine Company?
"Bravo to Morgan Twain-Peterson for proving that the younger generation is more than capable of kicking the older generation’s butt in terms of high quality wine! Made by Joel Peterson’s** son, who appears to have already eclipsed his father in producing high quality wines, these are all innovative additions to the world of Rhone Ranger wines. Proprietor Morgan Twain-Peterson, who is not yet 30 years old, demonstrates an equally adept touch with his Syrah program." -- Robert Parker, The Wine Advocate
** Joel Peterson is the founder/winemaker for Ravenswood (all the famous single vineyard Zinfandels)

2008 Bedrock Heirloom Lorenzo....$34.99 -- SOLD OUT
208 cases made
"It’s a California Cotes du Rhone on steroids. Composed of 50% Zinfandel, 25% Carignan, and the rest Petite Sirah as well as tiny amounts of Alicante Bouchet, Valdigue, and Cinsault from 100-year old vines located in Dry Creek, the 2008 Heirloom Lorenzo’s Proprietary Red is even better. Copious aromas of licorice, lavender, pepper, meat juices, blackberries, chocolate, raspberries, and sweet cherry jam are all present in this full-bodied, pedal-to-the-metal, juicy wine. This is an intriguing, provocative, compelling example of an unusual blend resulting in something special. Drink it over the next 5-6 years."

2009 Bedrock Zinfandel Old Vine...$23.99
350 cases made
"The first appellation Zinfandel from Bedrock! The backbone of this wine comes from the 92 year old vines at Morse Vineyard in Glen Ellen. A puncheon each of fruit from Rossi Ranch in Kenwood, Topolos Vineyard on Sonoma Mountain, the rocky and dramatically terraced Los Chamizal Vineyard, and a barrel each of Bedrock Zinfandel and Stellwagen Vineyard complete the blend. This is powerful but elegant stuff, and like most Bedrock offerings, avoids the over-ripeness and lunkiness of many Zin’s out there. The hope here is to show the spice, structure, and dramatic aromatics and mouthfeel found in great Sonoma Valley Zinfandel at a very friendly tariff. 18% new French oak, along with a few once-used puncheons." -- winery
2009 Bedrock Cuvee Caritas Grave Blanc....$29.99
2009 Bedrock Zinfandel Stellwagen Vineyard....$29.99
Only 180 cases made
"This is the first release for Bedrock Wine Co. from this tiny, famous, vineyard owned by Ruth Stellwagen and Robert Vaughn. It is a great honor for Bedrock Wine Co. to organically farm and receive the fruit from this vineyard.
The ancient vines here, planted around 1890, and probably part of the original Steiger property, lie less than a half-mile north from Bedrock Vineyard. Like most ancient vineyards of this age, the vineyard is about 10% mixed blacks— with lots of Petite Sirah, Syrah, Carignane, a trace of Semillon, and a “mystery vine” that I am determined to identify this year. What is amazing, and a great example of the power of terroir, is how different the soils and climate are. Planted on Los Robles cobbly loams, which have more clay and a distinct brown/grey tone, the vines here typically ripen nearly a month after the vines at Bedrock Vineyard. The fruit tone is more opulent, the aromatics darker and a bit more brooding." - winery
2009 Bedrock Ode to Lulu Rose Mourvedre....$21.99
"Orange-tinged pink. Pungent aromas of redcurrant, cherry pit, white flowers and orange peel. Musky, broad and fresh in the mouth, with flavors of red berries and candied flowers lifted by a suggestion of white pepper. There's an alluring creaminess in the middle of this deep, chewy, red fruit-dominated wine, and the dusty minerality on the lengthy finish gives the wine excellent focus and grip. These mourvedre vines are about 120 years old, according to owner/winemaker Morgan Peterson. 91 points"

NV Bedrock Sherman and Hooker's SheBang Red....$16.99 / liter jug
"There are some terrific bargains in this portfolio, including the non-vintage Sherman and Hooker’s Shebang (only available in one liter bottles). A blend of 80% Syrah and the rest Sangiovese, Zinfandel, Cabernet Sauvignon, and a few white Rhone varietals such as Grenache Blanc, Roussanne, and Marsanne, it is a delicious, consumer-friendly wine offering an attractive dark ruby color, lots of spicy, peppery, berry fruit, and a silky, supple mouthfeel. It is meant to be consumed during its exuberant youth. This was my first look at the wines of Bedrock, which is the creation of Morgan Peterson, the son of Ravenswood’s legendary Joel Peterson. The emphasis appears to be on some innovative blends as well as several single vineyard cuvees."

2008 Bedrock Syrah Hudson Whole Cluster....$39.99 --- sold out
only 60 cases made
"Inky ruby. Smoky blackcurrant, cocoa powder, black olive, licorice and violet on the nose. Succulent, ripe and sappy, with alluring sweetness deftly balanced by zesty but integrated acidity. Deep and rich in dark fruit flavor but without any suggestion of heaviness. Finishes long and chewy, with firm but sweet tannins. 92 points"

2008 Bedrock Syrah Cofermented Hudson....$39.99 -- SOLD OUT
Only 85 cases made
"Saturated ruby. Highly floral nose features violet, jasmine and licorice, with strong boysenberry and blackberry fruit aromas. Spicy and perfumed in the mouth, with a light touch to the intense blackberry and candied violet flavors. Quite brisk and extremely young, with excellent finishing clarity and lingering spiciness. Manages to be both powerful and lithe; I'd give this a few more years of bottle aging to gain flesh, but it's very sexy now. 92 points"

2008 Bedrock Syrah Pleine de Chene Hudson....$39.99 -- 2 BOTTLES LEFT
Only 50 cases made
"Deep ruby with a bright rim. Brooding, deep aromas of blackcurrant, olive and licorice are lifted by a violet topnote. Then compellingly lush and full in the mouth, with lovely sweetness to the seamless flavors of black and blue fruits, licorice pastille and minerals. Supple, broad, fine-grained tannins spread out to coat the palate on the spicy, focused, very persistent finish. This is the most complete wine of this trio. 93 points"
