This is an amazing wine for drinking now and over the next 5-7 years. It is delicious wine from the winemaking superstar, Mark Herold. We are proud to introduce it to Missouri.
"A southern California native, Mark Herold......Mark moved to Napa Valley to pursue winemaking in earnest. His first job was as research enologist for six years at Joseph Phelps Vineyards . Armed with the expertise gained at Phelps and motivated by the freedom to pursue his own style of winemaking, Mark and his former wife Erika Gottl launched their own Merus wines in 1998. Merus was named “one of California's most exciting new wineries” by the Wine Spectator, and Mark soon found himself in demand as a consulting winemaker specializing in limited production Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon wines.
In 2002, after been introduced to a bottle of Merus while dining at the French Laundry, Stanley and Helen Cheng hired Mark as consulting winemaker for their newly created Hestan label.

Mark Herold became one of Napa Valley's best-known Cabernet winemaking consultants, at in addition to Merus, he has consulted on Kobalt, Kamen, Celani Family, Buccella and Hestan. His wines have scored extremely high in both The Wine Spectator and The Wine Advocate.

Crafted by Mark Herold as the second wine of the Hestan Estate, this Cabernet has a smooth, rich mouthfeel and flavors of spicy blackberry and black cherry, with subtle hints of anise and mocha. It finishes with a burst of fruit.

Wine Spectator, by James Laube, 92 points:
Smooth, rich and creamy at the start, with spicy blackberry, black cherry and wild berry fruit that's well-centered, picking up subtle hints of anise and mocha. Teases you on the finish with a burst of fruit. Best from 2009 through 2016. 3,300 cases made.
